How many players are active?

People always want to know how many people play Fortnite. Often it’s non-fans wondering is Fortnite dying? The short answer is no: millions of people are still playing. If Epic isn’t revealing amazing stats as much as it used to it’s because there are some huge numbers to beat, from special events and end of season spectaculars. Fortnite still has a player count most games can only dream of, and if the numbers have gone down the game has lost more players than some will ever see.

Recently we’ve had the Ariana Grande Rift Tour and concert that seems like the biggest thing in the world at the time, but was it. There still hasn’t been any official numbers although there were reports the concert had over a million viewers at its peak. However, details are been limited which might mean numbers weren’t higher than previous events. There still might have been an incredible amount of players watching the concert but Epic only really make big announcements about player counts when it’s bigger than the last thing. Even with such a controlled release of info, however, you can still get a good idea of how many people play Fortnite from the mention over time – things like the Travis Scott concert, or Chapter 2 Season 5 Galactus event. How many people play?

The big Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 5 Galactus event in December 2020 gives us one of the more recent reads on an active player count with 15.3 millions players logging concurrently to see the season close. That’s a big jump from the previously touted number of 12.3 million players that all logged in at once to watch the Travis Scott event back in April 2020.
